How To Know For Sure That Your Baby Is On Track With Milestones

As a parent, watching your baby grow and reach new milestones is one of the most rewarding parts of life. But with so much information out there, it can quickly become overwhelming. You may find yourself asking: Is my baby reaching milestones on time? Are they developing in the proper sequence?

If these thoughts have ever crossed your mind, know that you're not alone. In this blog, we’ll dive into why the order in which your child achieves developmental milestones is more important than the timing and how you can take an active role in supporting their healthy growth.

The Importance of Developmental Sequence

While every child develops at their own pace, the order in which your baby reaches milestones is crucial for their overall development. Here's why:

  1. Proper nervous system development: The sequence of milestones ensures that your baby's nervous system and neuromuscular development progress correctly.
  2. Brain communication: For example, crawling before walking is essential because the cross-crawl pattern helps both sides of the brain start communicating with each other.
  3. Foundation for future skills: Each milestone builds upon the previous one, creating a strong foundation for future development.

Key Milestones to Watch For

Developmental or baby milestones are typically divided into age ranges:

  • 0-12 weeks
  • 3-6 months
  • 6-9 months
  • 9-12 months
  • 12-18 months
  • 18-24 months

To see a detailed list of milestones to watch for within these specific age ranges, check out this site. But remember, while these age ranges provide a general guideline, the sequence of achieving these milestones is more important than the exact timing.

When to Trust Your Gut

As a parent, you have a natural understanding of your child. If you feel that something isn't quite right with your baby's development, it's important to trust your mom or dad gut. Here are some signs that it might be time to seek additional support:

  • Delays in reaching milestones
  • Skipping or reaching milestones out of sequence
  • Unusual behavior
  • Struggles with eating, sleeping, or pooping

Taking Charge of Your Child's Health

As a parent, you are your child's best advocate. Here are some steps you can take to ensure your baby's optimal development:

  1. Stay informed: Educate yourself about developmental milestones and their importance.
  2. Observe closely: Pay attention to your baby's progress and note any concerns.
  3. Trust your instincts: If something feels off, don't hesitate to seek professional advice.
  4. Consider specialized assessments: Neurological INSiGHT Scans, including NeuroThermal and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) scans, can help pinpoint areas where stress and tension may be impacting your baby's development.
  5. Seek personalized care: Look for healthcare providers who offer customized care plans tailored to your baby's specific developmental needs.

The Role of the Nervous System

At the core of your baby's development is their nervous system. When the basics like eating, sleeping, and pooping are on track, other milestones tend to follow naturally. That's why it's crucial to focus on your baby's overall nervous system health.

Empowering You to Take Action

Remember, you know your baby better than anyone else. If you've ever felt uncertain or concerned about your baby's development, trust your instincts and seek the guidance and support you need.

Consider scheduling a Neurological INSiGHT Scan at Pinnacle Chiropractic to gain a clearer picture of your baby’s developmental needs. Using these scan results, our team will design a personalized care plan, crafted specifically for your baby, ensuring that their unique journey is supported with a customized approach rather than a “one-size-fits-all” solution.

Don't hesitate—take the next step in giving your baby the best start in life. Contact Pinnacle Chiropractic today to learn more and schedule your assessment. If you’re outside our local area, you can visit the PX Docs directory to find a qualified office near you. Your baby’s optimal development is worth the effort!

By staying informed, trusting your intuition, and seeking specialized care when necessary, you're taking a proactive role in guiding your baby's healthy growth. You are your child's strongest advocate, and with the right support, you can help them thrive at every stage of their development.

Patient Stories: Discover Reviews by Satisfied Chiropractic Patients

Hear what our patients have to say about their experience at Pinnacle.

I’ve now become a patient of theirs too, and I hope to start my other two children there as well
My 10 month old has been delayed on her gross motor skills. At her 6 month checkup, her pediatrician recommended she get evaluated for PT. In her case, I felt like she needed more that just PT to get caught up. I’ve heard so many people speak highly of chiropractic care for kids, I thought we’d give it a try. I can’t remember how I came across Pinnacle (might have been on Instagram because they have a lot of helpful posts). But anyway, I called and setup the first couple appointments for intake and scans. The entire staff is super friendly. Dr. Matt listened very well to what was going on with my daughter and we came up with 3 goals for her to hopefully meet with 9 weeks of adjustments (2x/week). The afternoon after her 2nd adjustment, she literally reached 2 of her goals. I almost couldn’t believe it. I realize it could have just been a coincidence but it’s just too close to happening right after the adjustments for me to assume that. She’s had about 10 adjustments total now, and she is catching up on other gross motor skills. Because she is a baby, her adjustments are quite gentle. There’s no cracking or popping involved. I’ve now become a patient of theirs too, and I hope to start my other two children there as well!
They are a great group of people and treat the children with respect
My grandson has been being seen here for several months and we notice a marked improvement in his sleeping and ability to concentrate. The staff there is professional and manages the many kids coming in and out with ease and appointments are as scheduled and rescheduling is not a problem. They are a great group of people and treat the children with respect and always have something fun going on for them to look forward to.
